Fuel: Truckers prefer to save with CNG

ALTERNATIVE To be as environmentally friendly as possible on the road and to save costs, many transport companies are opting for bio natural gas as an alternative fuel. CNG is currently significantly more attractive than LNG.

CNG fuel
For cost reasons in particular, CNG is now preferred to LNG as a truck fuel.

In contrast to vehicles powered by CNG (compressed natural gas), LNG trucks (liquefied natural gas) are currently standing unused in depots in Germany due to the high prices for fossil LNG.

OG Clean Fuels (Orange Gas Germany) is therefore now presenting the prototype of a truck converted from LNG to CNG realized by Rapstruck.

Savings of at least 90 percent
The renewable CNG fuel sold by OG Clean Fuels, the German market leader in CNG refueling stations, provides CO2 savings of at least 90 percent. This result led to a collaboration with the Rapstruck company, which has developed an economical conversion solution for LNG trucks.

Background: The only alternative drive that is currently available in Germany for heavy trucks across the board with renewable energy is bio-CNG. This will remain the case for the foreseeable future, says the Germany head of Orange Gas.

Johan Bloemsma: "If you want to massively and quickly reduce emissions from heavy vehicles, you can't get around bio-CNG."
