Peugeot: Great anticipation for Fuji 🎥

NEXT STEP After the Peugeot 9X8 makes its FIA WEC debut at Monza, the French team travels to Japan for the next six-hour race at Fuji Speedway on September 11.

On July 10 this year, a new chapter in Peugeot's endurance racing history began when the 9X8 made its first official appearance at Monza. See how it all went in the video.

Olivier Jansonnie, Technical Director Peugeot Sport: "In order to advance our preparations and our development, it was time to measure ourselves against the competitors on a real race weekend."

Encouraged by the potential of a car whose homologation is now certain, the two driver crews were able to get used to the road and compare the Peugeot 9X8 with the other cars in the championship.

The Peugeot 9X8 has to prove what it has to offer as a competitor in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Preparation for possible situations
Even at an early stage, the technicians focused on reliability and performance as well as on refining the race strategies. In two private test drives between Monza and Fuji, the team has now prepared particularly intensively.

Olivier Jansonnie: "In Japan we will be exploring the track for the first time, so we need to make sure we make the most of every situation on the track from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon."

Different challenge from Monza
The six-hour race at Fuji is also the fifth round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship and the second appearance for Team Peugeot Total Energies. It presents a different challenge to Monza in many respects. The unpredictable weather in the region can be accompanied by heavy rain.

Some of the drivers have raced at Fuji in the past, including Jean-Éric Vergne and Gustavo Menezes, while Loïc Duval and James Rossiter have spent part of their careers in Japan.

The race weekend at the 4.56-kilometer Fuji Speedway begins on Friday, September 9 at 11 a.m. local time. All news about Peugeot Sport can be found on the new website peugeot-sport.com.
