Ferrari: Extra driving fun with the 296 GTS 🎥
FULL OF FRESH AIR The 296 GTS, the new Berlinetta Spider from Ferrari, is equipped with the same V6 hybrid drive with 830 hp as the 296 GTB coupé. Thanks to the retractable hardtop, it offers a special driving experience.
The 296 GTS, the latest evolution of the two-seater concept with mid-engine, is intended to redefine the idea of driving pleasure even in everyday driving situations.
Like the 296 GTB, the open-top version is equipped with the 120° V6 biturbo engine (663 hp) in conjunction with an electric motor (122 kW, 167 hp). The total output is 830 hp, which is transferred to the road via the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the electric diff and the rear wheels.
Electric range of around 25 kilometers
The plug-in hybrid system of the 296 GTS enables an extremely fast-response drive, and in eDrive mode, purely electric ranges of around 25 kilometers can be achieved. With its curved lines and compactness, the new model is also reminiscent of models such as the 250 LM from 1963 or the Dino V6.
The retractable hardtop guarantees good occupant comfort. It is lightweight and can be retracted or extended in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h. When the hardtop is retracted, the cab and rear are separated by a height-adjustable rear glass window, which guarantees a high level of comfort at high speeds.
Contact pressure at the rear up to 360 kilograms
The aerodynamic development of the rear of the 296 GTS focused on dealing with the wake solution, which works despite the new roof design. The wing profile and the strut arches guarantee the same aerodynamic and thermal efficiency as the 296 GTB.
In the 296 GTS, particular attention was also paid to optimum aerodynamics. Thanks to the La Ferrari-inspired active spoiler integrated into the rear bumper, the 296 GTS can generate up to 360 kilograms of downforce at the rear if required. With a dry weight of just 1540 kilograms, the new Spider achieves an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of just 1.855 kg/hp.
Assetto Fiorano especially for the racetrack
The optional Assetto Fiorano package includes special adjustable shock absorbers derived from GT racing, which are optimized for use on the racetrack. There are also carbon add-on parts on the front bumper, which can provide an additional ten kilograms of downforce, and various other weight savings.
