All-time record last year
Justin Biber is not the only one having fun on two wheels. The Swiss motorcycle and scooter market increased by 13 percent year-on-year to 56,375 units in 2021. This set a new all-time record. What's more, electric scooters accounted for 1775 units in 2021, 9.5 percent of the total scooter market, which grew by four percent.
The prices of the e-scooters, which are almost exclusively in the smallest segment up to 45 km/h, are consistently even higher than those of comparable gasoline models.
Now come Europeans and Japanese
After the Chinese manufacturers, the traditional motorcycle and scooter brands from Japan and Europe have now also recognized the importance of this sector. They are increasingly launching high-quality and competitively priced models on the market.
Experts believe that the urban small scooter sector will be dominated by e-vehicles in a few years' time.
