Ken Block: Spectacular Audi S1 for Elektrikhana video 🎥
UNICAT NAMED HOONITRON Audi presents the Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron, which was developed as a one-off exclusively for US drift artist Ken Block. The purely electric one-off will be the main actor in a new video.
Ken Block: "With Audi now developing this car for my team and me and joining us on our next project, it's a dream come true for me."
The Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron is immediately reminiscent of the legendary Audi Sport quattro S1 with which the Four Rings once stormed up the famous Pikes Peak.
Ken Block: "The S1 Hoonitron combines much of what Audi was all about back in the 80s. For example, spectacular aerodynamics that have now been translated into an absolutely modern form. I think it's cool that Audi designers have taken inspiration from their own past and uniquely translated the technologies and look into today."
Enthusiasm after the first test
Two electric motors, all-wheel drive, power in abundance, a chassis made of carbon fiber and full safety standards of the supreme motorsport authority FIA - these are the pure numbers of the vehicle.
There was a first get-to-know-you session in November. Audi gave the American YouTube star the opportunity to test the car for a few days in Germany.
Ken Block: "I know a lot of cars with combustion engines and transmissions, but here I had to learn a lot of things anew. It's a completely new experience to go from a standstill straight into a donut at 150 km/h - using only the right foot. We worked with concentration so that the car and I got used to each other. Thanks to the whole Audi Sport team for the great collaboration."
Design in just four weeks
The entire development and technology of the S1 Hoonitron was created at Audi Sport's Neckarsulm site, where the Audi RS e-tron GT1 is also built. Audi Design in Ingolstadt is responsible for the design.
This is no everyday task for Audi's chief designer and his team.
Marc Lichte: "The aim was to create a modern, all-electric interpretation of the S1 Pikes Peak. The schedule was enormously tight: While our design process normally takes one to one and a half years, here we had only four weeks from the first drawing to the finished design. We were in constant contact with Ken Block and his team and exchanged ideas intensively."
The next chapter in the Gymkhana story
Fans will soon be able to experience for themselves just how well the US star does it. Ken Block and his team will produce the next episode of the famous Gymkhana videos with the S1 Hoonitron. Working title: Elektrikhana.
Ken Block: "The collaboration with Audi is a very special partnership for me. The brand and its passion for motorsport brought me into rallying. The Hoonitron writes the next chapter in our story and takes our Gymkhana story into the future."
