Bugatti: 400 km/h pace in 28.6 seconds 🎥

EXTREME LENGTH DYNAMICS In August 2019, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ became the first production car to break the 300-mile barrier at 304.774 mph. That record of the equivalent of 490.484 mph still stands today.

The tires of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ were designed for speeds of over 500 km/h.

A top speed of 440 km/h, as achieved by the Chiron Super Sport 2, requires not only a powerful drive but also low aerodynamic drag. For the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, engineers and designers spent months tinkering with the best aero balance, the lowest aerodynamic drag, and the greatest possible downforce.

The further optimized Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 2 reaches 440 km/h.

Increasing the power to 1600 hp
To achieve the high top speed, Bugatti increased the output of the 8-liter W16 engine by 100 to 1600 hp at 7100 rpm. 1600 Nm of torque are now always available from 2250 to 7000 rpm.

In addition to the increase in engine speed, the increase in power also results from optimized turbochargers. The dual-clutch transmission is slightly longer and only shifts from sixth to seventh gear at 403 km/h under full load. 400 km/h is reached in 28.6 seconds.

Chassis and aerodynamics optimized
Due to the new axle load distribution, the engineers increased the spring rate on the rear axle. The engineers also retuned the electronically controlled chassis.

In conjunction with the 23-centimeter-longer rear end and the modified front end, the Chiron Super Sport achieves a balanced aerobalance at high speed. And to best reduce turbulence at the side, the team integrated new air curtains at the front. In top-speed mode, the front diffusers are flatter and direct less air into the wheel arches.

Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires from Michelin
Michelin's newly developed Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires offer even greater stiffness and smoothness at speeds above 420 km/h. They are the only tires that have been tested to over 500 km/h.

After production, each tire in the 285/30 R20 ZR front and 355/25 R21 ZR rear dimensions is individually x-rayed to rule out even the smallest irregularities. To further reduce unsprung mass, Bugatti also developed new five-spoke aluminum wheels. A magnesium wheel set is available.

Bugatti manufactures the Chiron Super Sport at its headquarters in Molsheim. The first vehicles will be delivered to owners for 3.2 million euros in early 2022.
