Ryf will make her first appearance for Mercedes-Benz in February at the Laureus Sport for Good Tour, a campaign that takes place the week before the Laureus World Sports Awards and highlights the Laureus Foundation's work on behalf of socially disadvantaged children and young people.
"We have designed our commitment to the sport of triathlon for sustainability from the outset and are continuously expanding it. In 2016, we supported female triathletes for the first time. That was well received. Accordingly, I am pleased that we were able to win Daniela Ryf as a successful reinforcement for our 'PowerLadies' - that's what we call the professional triathletes we support," says Sonja Schneemann, Head of Marketing Communications and Operations Mercedes-Benz Vans.
In addition to Daniela Ryf, Mercedes-Benz Vans is supporting three other professional triathletes this year who were already among the "PowerLadies" last year: Anja Beranek from Germany, Kaisa Lehtonen from Finland and Åsa Lundström from Sweden. The partnership with the currently second-best German professional triathlete Sebastian Kienle and the international Sport for Good team, which includes Timo Bracht, Horst Reichel and Julian Beuchert, will also be continued in the coming season. Since 2016, Ironman Hawaii winner, Jan Frodeno has also been a Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador.
