This crash test evaluates occupant protection for adults and children, pedestrian protection and supporting safety systems. The top score now awarded reflects the high standard of the safety systems.
Assistance systems count
„We are proud to have achieved the top rating," says Christian Strube, Board Member for Technical Development at Skoda. "We have increased passive safety, even though the body shape itself already makes a big contribution to safety. In addition, we have expanded the assistance systems in particular to ultimately prevent accidents altogether," Strube continues.
Occupant and pedestrian protection
Euro NCAP awarded an excellent rating of 92 percent for adult passenger occupant protection. In the side impact test, the SUV even achieved full marks with good protection for all body regions at risk. In addition to occupants, the Kodiaq also protects pedestrians. The institute awarded the highest score for the protection offered by the bumper for pedestrians' legs. Good ratings were also given for hip protection, and good or adequate protection for most of the head area.
About NCAP
Euro NCAP is a society of European transport ministries, automobile clubs and insurance associations based in Belgium. Whereas in the first few years since its founding in 1997, only the results of the crash tests were evaluated, the evaluation of the active safety systems is currently also included in the overall rating. The best possible rating in all categories and as an overall rating is five stars.
