New Skoda Rapid Spaceback arrives
SKODA The Rapid Spaceback was already considered a compact model with plenty of space inside as well as functionality at an attractive price. The new version offers new engines, among other things. But there have been other changes, too: The main headlights shine with LED daytime running lights from the Ambition equipment line onward. The extended rear window is now standard in the Style equipment line and, according to the manufacturer, achieves a special sense of space, especially with the optionally available panoramic glass roof. Fog lights including cornering lights can also be ordered as an option in the Ambition and Style equipment lines.
Wide range of engines
1.0 TSI engines with three cylinders replace the previous 1.2-liter units. All engines feature fuel-saving measures such as brake energy recuperation and automatic start-stop and meet the EU 6 emissions standard. Transmission variants offered are 5- or 6-speed manuals depending on the engine, and optional 7-speed DSG. The three-cylinder engines are available in two power outputs: 70 kW/95 hp or 81 kW/110 hp. Due to the low free inertia forces, a balancer shaft, as is otherwise common with three-cylinder engines, is not required here, according to Skoda.
Shortly before the start
In addition to the two new three-cylinder engines, two other power units will be offered for the Rapid. The choice is between the 1.4 TSI with 92 kW/125 hp and the 1.6 TDI with 85 kW/116 hp. The Rapid Spaceback comes in the Active, Ambition and Style equipment lines as well as in the Monte Carlo variant and will be available at Swiss Skoda dealers from June at a price starting at CHF 16,510 (additionally deductible from the list price: Clever Bonus CHF 1700).
