The Swiss car market suffered a slight decline in 2016, but still reached over 310,000 units. Volkswagen remains the best-selling car brand in Switzerland by a clear margin in 2016. Skoda ended the year in fourth place and Audi in fifth place. In addition, Skoda was again able to achieve a new unit sales record this year. Seat placed twelfth. VW Commercial Vehicles was able to further increase registrations last year and also achieved a new unit record.
Commenting on the 2016 results, Morten Hannesbo, CEO of AMAG, says: "The year 2016 was a challenging one for the automotive market and especially for us. We are very satisfied with the results. These stem, on the one hand, from our customers' continued high level of trust in our products and, on the other, from the excellent performance of our dealers and service partners." Hannesbo assesses the young year 2017 as follows: "Customer needs with regard to mobility have been changing for some time. As a mobility service provider, it is all the more challenging to meet these needs with agility, innovation and quality, especially in these times - including the new year. AMAG's focus is on efficient and practical mobility solutions for its customers. That's why it's just as important to offer the full range of mobility services in addition to the classic sales and service business of new and used cars." He was alluding, among other things, to AMAG's 10 percent stake in the car sharing platform "sharoo".
