Amag Import is launching fifteen electrified new models this year with its authorized dealer partners.

The automotive industry is at a turning point with new technologies and demands on companies. Amag is aware of its responsibility and wants to become the leading provider of sustainable mobility.

Amag is laying the foundation for this within the company itself: Amag is the first automotive company in Switzerland to commit to operating as a climate-neutral company by 2025.

Net zero means achieving a balance between the amount of emissions produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere in order to reduce global warming.

Neto Zero
Helmut Ruhl: "Amag is committed to the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement and to the Science Based Targets.

Contribution to the achievement of Switzerland's climate targets

Helmut Ruhl, CEO of Amag Group AG: "Amag is aware of its responsibility. A sustainable business strategy stems from Amag's self-image as a value-based Swiss family business. Amag relies on sustainable entrepreneurship and technological solutions to make its contribution to achieving Switzerland's climate targets. The automobile still has a great future: it will become safer, smarter and more sustainable."

Market share of 50 percent for plug-in vehicles
Many new models will be launched in the coming years. AloneAmag Import is launching eight new BEVs and seven new PHEVs this year together with its authorized trade partners. The video shows which models you can look forward to.

The aim is to achieve a market share of 50 percent for plug-in vehicles by 2025 and more than 70 percent by 2030. The prerequisite for this is the accelerated development of the charging infrastructure.

Information center and community platform

  • special e-offers are now available for employees, including a contribution to the costs of the home charging infrastructure.
  • Service and emergency vehicles are being electrified. Already today, every second executive drives a plug-in vehicle. By 2025, this proportion will rise to almost 100 percent and almost exclusively BEVs.
  • at its own sites, the charging infrastructure will be equipped with
1000 additional charging stations. Around a quarter of this charging infrastructure will also be publicly accessible.
  • Opening of the square (Galerie Mitte) in the Circle at Zurich Airport by Amag Import. This is the New Mobility Hub and the competence and experience center for new sustainable individual mobility.
  • new resource-efficient mobility offerings at Clyde and Ubeeqo to promote electromobility.
  • with the newly launched community platform drive-electric.ch, Amag experts answer questions about electromobility, dispel prejudices and also address critical issues surrounding the new technology. The new website shows various facets of electromobility.

Expansion of solar plants at own sites
Amag will generate more of its own electricity in the future and plans to step up the expansion of solar installations at its own sites in the coming years (gallery on the right).

By 2024, around 50,000 m2, or almost seven football fields, will be covered with PV systems. This will cover more than 20 percent of the current electricity demand. A further expansion potential of around 100,000 m2 is currently being investigated. In total, this would correspond to the annual electricity demand of 10,000 electric vehicles, which could be covered.

Roadmap for the energy refurbishment of buildings
With the new building of the Carrosserie Center Wettswil ZH opened by Amag Retail comes a new generation of paint shops. (Gallery on the left). Thanks to year-round heat recovery and intelligent control, they use around 50 percent less energy than the systems they replace.

For new construction projects, sustainability criteria are taken into account with the help of a scorecard. A roadmap for energy-efficient refurbishment is drawn up for existing buildings.

Development of a leading research location
Last year, Amag was the first partner from the automotive industry to participate in the ETH Mobility Initiative, which ETH Zurich launched together with SBB.

The aim of the collaboration is to develop a leading international research location for mobility in Switzerland and to work out solutions for future challenges. Amag also wants to engage with EMPA in suitable projects for the development of synthetic fuels and decarbonization.

Ten million Swiss francs for climate and innovation fund
Amag is introducing an internal CO2 levy to finance a company climate and innovation fund. This fund will have around 10 million Swiss francs at its disposal.

Money from this fund will be used to invest in climate projects and innovations until 2025. The focus is on Swiss startups that conduct research in the field of sustainable mobility and decarbonization and develop new business models.

New technologies and new mobility concepts

Helmut Ruhl: "Since Amag was founded in 1945, we have lived and created sustainable values in social, economic and ecological terms. Entrepreneurship, new technologies and new mobility concepts are the basis for the climate-neutral mobility of the future."
