The Fabia is the second most produced Å koda model after the Octavia, making it an important cornerstone for the brand. Since 1999, the small car has been delivered more than 4.5 million times.
The fourth generation now starting up is based for the first time on the VW Group's MQB-A0 modular transverse matrix and offers not only good space but also improved comfort and numerous new safety and assistance systems.
Trunk increased to 380 liters
With the length of 4.11 meters, the newcomer is slightly larger than its predecessor, and the previously already large trunk has been increased by 50 liters to 380.
From the outside, the Fabia is pleasing with its sophisticated proportions, sharply drawn headlights and LED taillights. Inside, the instrument panel with free-standing central display and the optional digital instrument cluster stand out.
At the market launch, the Ambition and Style equipment lines and a First Edition version will be available. The sporty Monte Carlo variant and the Active equipment line will follow somewhat later.
Drives with three or four cylinders from 80 hp
The engines of the new edition belong to VW's Evo generation and have become even more economical. The three-cylinder units with a displacement of one liter deliver 80, 95 or 110 hp and are equipped with five- or six-speed manual transmissions. The 110 hp version can also be combined with 7-speed DSG.
Always equipped with a dual clutch is the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI variant with 150 hp, which temporarily puts two cylinders out of work at low loads for consumption reasons.
Folding passenger seat backrest and phone box
With up to nine airbags, the Fabia is one of the safest small cars. Assistance systems such as Travel Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Side Assist, Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist protection support the driver in everyday traffic.
Of course, the Simply Clever ideas are not missing either. In addition to classics such as the ice scraper and umbrella, the range includes new details such as the fold-down front passenger seat backrest, the multifunction bag and the phone box with inductive charging function.
Prices for the new model start at 18,790 Swiss francs.
