Motorsport: Jubilation at Sauber, victory for Buemi
It doesn't get any better than this: In the rain at Interlagos, Felipe Nasr gave the Sauber team its long-awaited points win in Formula 1 on Sunday. After several safety car phases and two interruptions, a regular race was held after all in the rain at Interlagos on Sunday. The luckiest man alongside winner Lewis Hamilton was Brazilian Felipe Nasr. In the turbulent opening phase with lots of yellows and reds, the Sauber driver moved up from 21st to 6th place at his home race. Felipe Nasr only had to relinquish this position towards the end, but with a well-deserved ninth place, he scored two long-awaited championship points for himself and the Sauber F1 team.
The joy in the Hinwil camp was correspondingly great. Team boss Monisha Kaltenborn: "I would like to express my thanks to all the staff at the track and in Hinwil, because they have always continued to work hard despite difficult circumstances. Felipe seized the opportunity with an excellent performance, and this is now the well-deserved reward for everyone." The Sauber F1 Team has moved past Manor into tenth place in the Constructors' Championship. The task now is to successfully defend this position at the finale in Abu Dhabi on November 27.
Sébastien Buemi: Master of attack and restraint
Heads of state from all over the world were allowed to watch the Formula 1 of electric cars on the fringes of the UN Climate Change Conference in Marrakech and experienced a Swiss in the best of moods. A few kilos underweight due to the empty fire extinguisher in his Renault Z.E. 16 meant that Sébastien Buemi initially had to endure a demotion from second to seventh place on the grid. In the race over 33 laps, the 28-year-old driver from the canton of Vaud showed how to use the available energy efficiently. Only on the starting lap did Sébastien Buemi use a little too much of it, after that the reigning champion found the right dose between attack and restraint. So after the late car change he had enough kilowatts available to work his way toward the front. With five laps to go, he took over first place and repeated his victory in Hong Kong. Sébastien Buemi and the Renault team can now spend the winter with a nice points advantage. The next race will be in Buenos Aires in February.
