Toyota: Record with the hydrogen Mirai
STRONG With the Mirai, Toyota has set a record for hydrogen vehicles. The sedan travelled 1003 kilometers on one tank of fuel. At the end, the on-board computer still showed a remaining range of nine kilometers. The Mirai thus achieved an average consumption of 0.55 kilometers on public roads in the south of Paris and in the Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire regions [...]
This gave the Mirai an average consumption of 0.55 kilograms of hydrogen per 100 kilometers on public roads in the south of Paris and in the Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire regions. The distance traveled and consumption were certified by an independent authority.
Refueling with green produced hydrogen
The official standard range of the Mirai, powered by a 134 kW (182 hp) electric motor, is around 650 kilometers. It can take 5.6 kilograms of hydrogen on board.
The drivers completed the record attempt with a fuel-efficient driving style and green-produced hydrogen. However, no techniques were used that could not also be used in everyday life.
One of the four drivers who piloted the Mirai to the range record was Victorien Erussard, founder and captain of the Energy Observer, a catamaran and floating research laboratory equipped with Toyota fuel cell technology.
Future solutions for mobility and energy
Just last week, the Paris de l'hydrogene (Paris from hydrogen) event, organized by Energy Observer, showcased hydrogen-based energy and mobility solutions. A generator powered by Toyota fuel cell technology made the Eiffel Tower glow green.
