Audi: Color Edition for the R8 LMS GT2

The close-to-production V10 engine accelerated the sports car to two first victories in Europe at the premiere of the GT2 European Series in Monza. Four car manufacturers are represented in the still young high-performance category in international GT racing. Audi Sport Customer Racing builds the Color Edition parallel to the standard version of the R8 LMS GT2 at the Neckarsulm site.
Racing car according to GT2 regulations
The chassis for the racing version in aluminum-CFRP mixed construction with steel roll cage is produced in the same plant as that of the production model. Audi Sport manufactures the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated engine at the Györ plant in Hungary, and a team in Heilbronn-Biberach completes the model to create a ready-to-run racing car in accordance with GT2 regulations.
With 640 hp, the Audi R8 LMS GT2 is the most powerful of four models in the brand's customer racing portfolio.
Durable and elaborate paintwork
The six colors of the edition models - Kyalami green, Misano red, Nogaro blue, Sebring black, Tactical green and Vegas yellow - are applied as paintwork to the body, which is made entirely of CFRP.
The result is an unusually elaborate solution in contrast to the usual foiling used in motor racing.
