Similar to GTI and GTE, the abbreviation GTX stands for its own product brand by charging VW's world of electric mobility with additional sportiness.
Klaus Zellmer, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales: "The letters GT have long signaled driving pleasure Now the X builds the bridge to the mobility of the future. Sustainability and sportiness are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other intelligently."
Additional electric motor on the front axle
The GTX models are expected to impress in the areas of performance and design. An additional electric motor on the front axle brings all-wheel drive to the ID family.
It is activated within a few milliseconds when high power and traction are required. In Traction mode, it is even switched on permanently.
In addition, sporty design elements and a dedicated light signature underscore the performance of the GTX models.
Boost from Accelerate corporate strategy
GTX gives further impetus to the Accelerate corporate strategy in the ID family. With it, VW aims to become the most sought-after brand for sustainable mobility. The goal is to increase the share of pure e-cars in Europe to 70 percent of sales by 2030. By 2050, the company wants to become climate-neutral.
