Puch: Army G as a civilian 170 hp eye-catcher

TUNING Clear case, a Puch G from 1995 with 170 hp, that can only be a W 463 with the 300 GE six-cylinder. But how does this increase in power come about in a vehicle from Swiss Army stocks? After all, armed forces tended to rely on the moderately powered, rustic W 461s. Some time ago, a larger batch [...]

Puch G
The new built-up Puch G of the Swiss Army with 170 hp can still take 3.5 tons on the hook.

Finally, armed forces rather relied on the moderately motorized, rustic W 461. Long ago, a larger batch of Puch G was taken over by Lorinser Classic. Some of these were resold in their original condition, some others were transformed into different restomods.

Marcus Lorinser: "We always try out something new. After specimens with a new look and in some cases even special superstructures up to and including a camper van, a performance upgrade is now being used for the first time."

Increase in power to 170 hp and 280 Nm
While the in-house tuning division Sportservice Lorinser gives modern turbo engines a leg up electronically, heavy tools were needed for the aged naturally aspirated M 102. But after all, what's the point of being a Mercedes dealership for several decades?

The displacement has been bored from 2297 to 2900 cubes - which is virtually top class for a four-cylinder. The original 116 hp could be corrected upward by 54 horses, and now up to 280 Nm is available.

Shifting is handled by a 4-speed automatic. This makes for perfect cruising, bedded down on newly upholstered and covered seats.

Dry ice blasting removes the maneuver marks
Of course, Lorinser Classic has not left it at the inner values, which already shows a glance at the body. It was painted in Arabian gray matt, including the headlight surrounds, and wears a completely new soft top in black fabric.

The dry ice blast removed maneuver marks from the underbody, after which it was preserved. After all, this magnificent off-road vehicle has only run 110,000 kilometers and the engine, like many other things, is as good as new after the overhaul.

Inch offroad steel rims provide a solid stand
There was also a small modernization program for the former army vehicle. In addition to LED headlights with protective grilles, the mechanics installed a trailer hitch that can tow an impressive 3.5 tons.

Track and fender extensions in combination with 16-inch off-road steel rims ensure a solid stance on the road. In addition, there are all-terrain tires. The many special features and the condition of this little-run one-off add up to a price of 64,500 euros.

Anyone who already owns a corresponding G and is interested in the complex engine conversion: Including a complete overhaul and new catalytic converter system, 20,000 euros should be expected.
