The sports commission of the ACS section Thurgau decided on Thursday evening not to hold the 21st Auto-Renntage Frauenfeld 2021 on the traditional date in April, but only in the summer. The planning uncertainty for all organizers of non-professional sports events and other events - such as in the cultural sector - is still very high.
Call to drivers and officials
The postponement to the weekend of July 17/18 is connected with the hope that the health situation in Switzerland will allow it again within reasonable limits until then.
By holding this popular event, ACS Thurgau also wants to set an example for national motorsport. The organizers therefore appeal to the solidarity of drivers and the indispensable officials and helpers. They are hereby called upon to mark the new date in red in their calendars.
Unfortunately without spectators
However, spectators will unfortunately not be allowed on this later date either. This fundamental decision was made for safety reasons and for the purpose of better budget planning already in the fall of 2020, when there was still talk of an event in April next year.
Start of the season in Bière?
The kick-off of the 2021 Swiss Slalom Championship is now scheduled to take place on May 1 and 2 at Waffenplatz Bière, provided the cantonal authorities give the go-ahead. However, this race is also planned without an audience.
Slalom Bure also only in July
The organizers of the Bure slalom, however, are not sticking to the planned date of May 15/16. The race near the French border will now be held on July 3-4.
By postponing the event, the people of the Jura hope that the general pandemic situation will have improved by then and that they will have a better chance of holding the event successfully.
Crowded program in early summer
With the mountain races in Hemberg (June 19/20), Reitnau (June 27), Massongex (July 3-4) and Anzère (July 24/25) as well as the newly scheduled slaloms in Bure and Frauenfeld in between, six national races will follow one after the other at the beginning of the summer - if it stays that way. After the total cancellation of the 2020 racing season, however, this would be the lesser of two evils.
The organizers of Hemberg and Reitnau will decide in the next few weeks whether to hold their mountain races.
