The Waiblingen-based company is one of 46 car dealerships in Germany to bear the Mercedes Classic Partner seal of approval. It has had a soft spot for the first-generation G-Class for some time.
The trigger was a larger batch of the Swiss Army from the first half of the 1990s, which was up for sale. There, the vehicles served not as Mercedes, but as Puch G.
Protective cladding and a weatherproof cover
After several models with tarpaulin and a camper van, the long-awaited flatbed truck is now coming.
For this purpose, the original body was removed and all body openings were closed with fixed plastic elements or a heated glass rear window. The loading area was fitted with a robust protective cladding and a weatherproof cover that can be conveniently lifted and locked in place via gas pressure dampers.
Dry ice blast swept away all maneuver marks
From no perspective does the G look as if it were almost 30 years old and had already circled the globe five times. But that's no wonder; after all, Lorinser Classic extensively restored the vehicle, which was first registered in October 1993, in the course of the conversions.
The dry ice blast swept away all maneuver marks from the underbody. The body, on the other hand, was completely repainted in RAL 7009 (matte green-gray) to remove all traces of battle.
Trailer hitch takes 3.5 tons on the hook
There was also a small modernization program for the former army vehicle. In addition to LED headlights with protective grilles, the mechanics also installed a trailer coupling that can hook up to 3.5 tons.
Widened track and fenders in combination with 16-inch off-road steel rims ensure a solid stance on the road. All-terrain tires are also available.
As a 230 GE gasoline engine with 116 hp, the pickup truck likes it rather cozy. With the standard 4-speed automatic, you can cruise easily while lounging on the completely new Alcantara-covered seats.
Lorinser did not want to impose more luxury on the occupants because, after all, the purist character should be retained.
