Motorsport: Michael Burri makes progress
Two Swiss rally teams competed in the WRC round in Corsica with the support of Renault Switzerland and various partners. Michael Burri achieved his best result to date in fifth place in the WRC3 class, while Cédric Althaus retired with a defect. The task for the two French rally drivers was by no means easy. The task for the two French rally drivers was by no means easy. Apart from the final Power Stage (10.9 km), the nine special stages ranged in length from 29.1 to 53.8 km. It is not for nothing that the WRC round in Corsica is also known as the "Rally of 10,000 bends" and is therefore considered the most difficult asphalt stage on the calendar.
As the winner of the Clio Alps European Trophy, Michael Burri was able to complete his fourth WRC event with the French Renault Rallye Sport Team. The Bernjurassier, navigated by Frenchman Andersson Levratti, quickly established himself at the front of the 19-car RC3 class, which also included Cédric Althaus/Jessica Bayard in a private Clio R3T. Both set similarly good times and were 28th and 32nd overall after the first stage.

Althaus had the handicap on the first stage that he ran into the competitor in front of him several times and lost time until he could overtake. He also had to make a repair after a driving error. Unfortunately, this year's Clio Alps champion retired on the second day due to an electrical fault. On the other hand, Burri's works car ran flawlessly, allowing him to move up to 24th place overall in the classification. In the WRC3 classification, which counts towards the world championship, this resulted in a good fifth place.
Confidence for the next World Championship round in Spain
"I'm really very satisfied," Burri said with relief at the finish. "I didn't believe that we would find a good rhythm so quickly and that we would get through the rally without making any mistakes. But our notes were very good and I kept a cool head when the changeable weather made things even more difficult." His team also praised him and emphasized that Burri had made great progress since the last rally in Germany. This encourages the whole team for the next WRC event from October 13 to 16 in Spain.
