Five stars were achieved by the Renault Zoe with 52 kWh and a range of 319 kilometers.

Green NCAP is a newly founded consortium made up of authorities, automobile clubs, consumer organizations and research institutes. The test examines emissions from pollutants and greenhouse gases as well as fuel consumption.

Renault and Hyundai on the podium
Only two electric vehicles achieved five stars: the Renault Zoe (52 kWh) with a range of 319 kilometers at a power consumption of 22.3 kWh per 100 kilometers, and the Hyundai Kona, which consumes 22.2 kWh per 100 kilometers and manages 202 kilometers with its 39 kWh battery.

Reduction also through hybrid models
According to Green NCAP, however, hybrid models can also make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gases if used efficiently.

The Toyota C-HR 1.8 Hybrid achieves 3.5 stars with a consumption of 5.4 l/100 km, while the Honda CR-V received one star less. Both models lack a particulate filter, which costs them points in terms of pollutant emissions.

Combustion engine achieved only three stars
Five gasoline vehicles achieved three stars in the test: VW Polo, Renault Clio and Captur as well as Peugeot 208 and 2008. Among the diesel vehicles, only the C-Class Mercedes achieved three stars.

Four times only 1.5 stars were awarded: for Kia Sportage, Mercedes V-Class, Opel Zafira Life and VW T6.1.

The two natural gas cars Seat Ibiza 1.0 TGI and Audi A4 Avant g-Tron scored three and two stars respectively.
