Delivery trucks: CO2 reduction shows effect
With 19 models, there are now significantly more electric delivery trucks available. The CO2 reduction targets are having the desired effect. The Swiss Transport Club shows which models have the least impact on the environment. Among the electric models newly available are the Citroën ë-Jumpy, Mercedes eSprinter and Peugeot e-Expert panel vans, each with two different battery sizes and thus usable ranges.
Common body shapes on offer
Also new is the Peugeot e-Traveller minibus and the Renault Master Z.E. pick-up. This means that all common body types of light commercial vehicles are now on the market as purely electric versions: chassis cab, high-roof station wagon, panel van, minibus and pick-up.
Electric drives best for the climate
For the first time, importers of delivery vans will also be subject to target values for the CO2 emissions of their new vehicle fleet in 2020. An average target value of 186 g/km applies throughout Switzerland.
Purely electric commercial vehicles are the most environmentally friendly choice - especially if they are powered by green electricity. This means they are virtually CO2-neutral and climate-friendly, and they emit no pollutants while driving.
Ranges of up to 300 kilometers
With ranges from around 100 to almost 300 kilometers, electric commercial vehicles are suitable for many applications. If a shorter range is an insurmountable hurdle, plug-in hybrids and gas models offer further alternatives to the dominant diesel drive.
Plug-in hybrids and drives with natural gas
Ford offers the Transit Custom (panel van and minibus) and Tourneo Custom (minibus) models as plug-in hybrids. Fiat, Iveco, Piaggio and VW, in turn, offer vehicles of all body styles with gas drive. With biogas, these can also be operated in a practically climate-neutral manner.
... this is how the van environmental list rates
The van environmental list evaluates all vans and minibuses up to 3.5 tons gross weight according to environmental criteria and shows which models are least harmful to the environment.
Emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2, noise, and, for vehicles with combustion engines, air pollutants are taken into account. For electric models, the environmental damage caused by battery production is included.
