Jaguar breathes fresh air under the sheet metal of the sporty brand's entry-level E-Pace model.

The E-Pace gets a subtly revised look for the new 2021 model year. The shiny silver pins in the grille are striking. The side gills are now emblazoned with the leaper - the jumping Jaguar.

Similar to other new Jaguar models for the 2021 model year, the E-Pace also gets new LED headlights with dual J-blade signature daytime running lights.

E-Pace
The E-Pace P160 FWD costs from 47,200 francs and from 51,800 francs for the D165 AWD.

Four-cylinder with dual-flow exhaust system
At the rear, the bumper, which is now slightly lower, has a contrasting dark panel with a grille structure in the lower section. The four-cylinder gasoline models can be identified by a dual-flow exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipes. The diesel versions and the plug-in hybrid feature square fake exhaust tips, while the actual exhaust tract remains invisible.

Large touchscreen and Pivi infotainment
The heart of the cockpit is the 11.4-inch touchscreen for operating the new Pivi-Pro infotainment system. It is 48 percent larger and has three times the resolution of the monitor on the old model.

The new system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Two smartphones can be paired simultaneously via Bluetooth. In addition, Pivi Pro has its own power supply thanks to a backup battery.

Ionization and filtration of indoor air
The wellness factor is increased by the purification of the interior air via ionization and filtering, the latter also removing fine dust. To activate it, simply press the Purify button on the touchscreen.

All surfaces that are frequently touched are made of soft-touch materials in the new E-Pace; in parallel, the side knee contact zones have been reshaped.

Unlike many Jaguar Land Rover models, the E-Pace did not have a rotary control for operating the automatic transmission, but a traditional long lever. This is now replaced by a stub-like lever.

One plug-in hybrid and many mild hybrids
The compact SUV gets the familiar P300e plug-in hybrid powertrain based on the 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with three cylinders. In addition, almost all engines operate with mild hybrid.

The three-cylinder gasoline engine with 1.5 liter displacement is the latest member of the engine family. Its use in the E-Pace is a first for the brand. The lightweight all-aluminum unit is 33 kilograms lighter than the four-cylinder version and reduces fuel consumption.

The powertrain of the P300e couples the 200 hp 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with an 80 kW (109 hp) electric motor on the rear axle.

With the eight-speed automatic installed here, the E-Pace P300e accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The 15-kWh battery provides an electric range of 55 kilometers.

All-wheel drive with Driveline Disconnect technology
The conventionally powered models have transversely mounted turbocharged gasoline or diesel engines, an automatic transmission, mild hybrid assistance, and all-wheel drive.

The new all-wheel drive system consists of the second generation of Standard Driveline technology. It automatically distributes torque between the front and rear axles to keep traction at the maximum level at all times.

A new feature is the Driveline Disconnect technology, which deactivates the AWD system when cruising constantly on dry roads - the E-Pace then runs in front-wheel drive only.

The E-Pace 300 Sport, on the other hand, has permanent all-wheel drive. Two electrically controlled clutches also distribute the power between the rear wheels - in extreme cases, 100 percent of the power goes to one of the two wheels.

In the AWD models, the Adaptive Surface Response control system replaces the Rain, Ice and Snow program. Between three different settings, it automatically selects the one that is optimal for the current surface conditions.

Surround view shows the car from below
The ClearSight interior rearview mirror familiar from other models is now also installed in the E-Pace. It transmits the image from the wide-angle camera integrated in the roof antenna. In addition to numerous perspectives around the E-Pace, the Surround View system also offers a view of the area underneath the E-Pace.

The entry-level model starts from 47,200 francs for the E-Pace P160 FWD and from 51,800 francs for the D165 AWD. All vehicles are available to order now. Delivery will take place in the spring of next year.
