The TCS circuit above Lake Neuchâtel, which is ideally suited and safe for kart racing, is hosting the SKM for the second time this year. In contrast to the event in May, however, the selective Lignières track will be driven clockwise for the finale. Thanks to the professional infrastructure, the terrain offers an optimal setting for the riders and spectators. From the embankments around the site, they can see the entire track and follow the racing action at close range. The paddock is freely accessible, and the experienced speaker Markus Lehner provides information on everything worth knowing.
The five classes - KZ2 switch karts, Iame X30 Challenge Switzerland, Iame X30 Junior, OK Senior and Supermini (youth class) - will each have one qualifying session and three race heats on Sunday. The 15 race heats will last between 10 and 20 minutes. In none of the five classes has the decision already been made, so high tension is guaranteed.
Fabio Leimer returns from Ferrari to karting
In the six-gear KZ2 karts with up to 54 hp, the top class in karting, Loïc Vindice is 46 points ahead of André Reinhard. With 75 points still to be awarded, the title chances of Reinhard, Paul Hökfelt and Nicolas Rohrbasser are theoretically still intact. In the Iame X30 Challenge, Norick Lehner leads by only 6 points ahead of Hicham Mazou. Savio Moccia travels to the final of the X30 Juniors with a 36-point lead. Julian Kuwabara-Wagg and Elias Wigger also still have title chances.
One week after his first victory in the Ferrari Challenge Europe, Fabio Leimer returns to small karting to take his title chance in the OC Seniors. The series, which was newly launched in 2016 and serves as a springboard for drivers with international ambitions, thrives on the exciting three-way battle between Leimer, Yannik Klaey, who is 20 points behind, and Samuel Weibel. In the Super Mini class (from 8 years old), Alessio Fagone's good ranking in the first of the three races is enough to win the title.
