Porsche Cup: GT3 title to Alexander Fach

SOUVERÄN As the youngest driver in the field, Alexander Fach secured the championship title in the Swiss Porsche GT3 Challenge in Misano. He left his two junior colleagues no chance in the title race. It was only in the summer, after his two surprising opening victories at Hockenheim, that Alexander Fach took his driving test on Swiss roads. Two months later, the 18-year-old from Schwyz is already GT3 champion in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse - what a meteoric and promising start for the future!

Porsche Juniors' Title Triathlon
At the fifth and final event on the Misano World Circuit on the Adriatic coast, the son of the eponymous boss of Fach Auto Tech from Sattel SZ created the best starting position for himself with pole position for both sprint races.

Fach then decided the half-hour first race in his favor ahead of Antonio Texeira and Gregor Burkard. Thus, the junior, who like Texeira and Dominik Fischli is supported by Porsche Schweiz AG and the Association of Swiss Porsche Clubs - any of the three could still become champion before the season finale - was just eight points short of securing the title.

Mature performance
In the final sprint, the leader would theoretically have had to cover only 75% of the distance to receive the ten points awarded for it. However, Alexander Fach was not content with that.

On the instructions of his team, he let Texeira go first on the first lap. After that, Fach calmly rode to second place in the slipstream of the Swiss-born Portuguese.

Only 18 and already a champion: Alexander Fach could not have imagined this even in his wildest dreams three months ago.

Not even dreamed of
In 2020, the successor to nine-time champion Jean-Paul von Burg had completed an apprenticeship year as a 17-year-old in a first-generation 991 GT3 Cup and, alternately or together with racing partner Rolf Reding, achieved loud class victories.

He could never have imagined that he would make such an impact in his first season in the top class.

Alexander Fach: "At best, I wanted to fight for a podium in the championship. After the one-two win at Hockenheim, which was a surprise for me as well, we naturally wanted more. I think all of us in the team deserved this success because we worked hard to achieve it. It's a huge weight off my mind."

Antonio Texeira ahead of Gregor Burkard and his brother José Texeira. The Portuguese rounded off his season with a victory in the final sprint race.

Runner-up title to Dominik Fischli
Before the finale in Italy, Alexander Fach and Dominik Fischli were only eight points apart at the top of the standings. The chances of Fischli, who started from row 1 alongside Fach in Race 1, quickly dwindled after he was hit by a competitor and immediately dropped back to P16. The unleashed race to catch up still brought him up to P8.

Fischli had four new Michelin tires fitted for the second sprint race, but had to start from the back of the field in 16th place. He took advantage of his fresh tires as early as the first lap, from which he returned in eighth place. On lap 9 he was back in third place, directly behind Alexander Fach.

Dominik Fischli ahead of Joachim Günther: The 25-year-old from Aargau stayed in the title race until the very end.

GT4 title to Italy
In the GT4 class, the Roman Francesco Fenici, who competes in the Amag First Rennsport team, drove to the championship title just as confidently as Alexander Fach. He even decided both sprint races in his favor.

We will return to the GT4, GT Open and Porsche Drivers Competition categories later in the week.
