The Volkswagen Tiguan with the conventional powertrains will be ready for testing from October.

The most important exterior feature of the 4.51-meter-long compact SUV is the front end with new LED headlights, modified hood and larger radiator grille. Also new are the 17- to 20-inch alloy wheels.

In the interior, the multifunction steering wheel and the different display concepts of the MIB3 infotainment system, depending on the equipment, are striking. Please see the gallery.

In addition to the gasoline models with 130, 150 or 190 hp and the diesels with 150 or 200 hp, VW now also offers a plug-in hybrid model and the R sports version of the Tiguan.

Range in E-mode up to 50 kilometers
The eHybrid combines a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine with 150 hp, an 85 kW e-machine and a 13 kWh battery into a plug-in system. This enables the vehicle to cover up to 50 kilometers in purely electric mode.

The GTE is the right model if you want to move forward with combined power and up to 400 Nm and 245 hp.

Combination of combustion engine and electric motor
Convenient and most useful for this drive system, however, is the hybrid mode, with which the drive control system always uses the most efficient combination of combustion engine and electric motor.

In the eHybrid, it is also possible for a predictive hybrid strategy to be automatically activated in the navigation system via GPS and map data.

Tiguan
The Tiguan is now also plugged in. As an eHybrid, it delivers a system output of 245 hp.

Turbo gasoline engine with 320 hp and 420 Nm
The Tiguan R focuses on driving dynamics. With its own front and rear end, a body lowered by ten millimeters, variable suspension, new all-wheel drive, larger brakes and a four-flow exhaust system, the R sets new standards in driving dynamics.

The two-liter turbo gasoline engine produces 320 hp and 420 Nm of torque. The power sent to the rear axle can be freely distributed to the two wheels.

This produces a steering effect that noticeably improves handling and driving stability.
In Race driving mode, throttle response, shift points and steering are sharpened and the engine noise is re-orchestrated via exhaust flaps and sound generator - optionally with Akrapovic system.

Prices start from 31 400 francs
The facelifted Tiguan with the conventional powertrains will be available for test drives from October. The eHybrid and R versions will then be added at the beginning of 2021. The entry-level price for the Tiguan (1.5 TSI, 130 hp) is 31,400 Swiss francs; the prices for the eHybrid and R have not yet been set.
