The highlights show how Nico Müller drove from third on the grid to a superior fifth victory of the season in Sunday's race at the Nürburgring.
Nico Müller made an impressive comeback with a superior victory in the second DTM race at the Nürburgring sprint circuit. After his misfortune on Saturday, when the championship leader had to settle for fifth place after spinning, the driver from Berne drove with an extra dose of ambition the following day and was unbeatable.
Audi is already celebrating the title
His Abt Audi team-mate Robin Frijns, who had won the previous day, crossed the line in second place, almost twelve seconds behind. The podium was completed by defending champion René Rast. After another one-two-three finish Audi is the early winner of the manufacturers' classification.
After the twelfth of 18 races of the season, Nico Müller has extended his lead in the drivers' standings and now continues to lead with 242 points. Frijns remains hot on his heels with 224 points, while Rast is third with 195 points. The DTM continues from October 9 to 11 at Zolder in Belgium.
Lucky hat-trick for Buemi at Le Mans
In the 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Sébastien Buemi scored his third triumph in a row. As a result, he draws level with Marcel Fässler as the Swiss driver. In the first half of the race, the other Toyota factory car was in the lead before an exhaust problem occurred at 3 o'clock in the night, which meant six laps of time lost.
Rebellion Racing stayed on the heels of Toyota Gazoo Racing for a long time, only one to two laps behind, and in the end took a well-deserved second place. The second Rebellion trio lost the ready third place towards the end of the 23rd hour to the catching-up second Toyota team,. Louis Delétraz had slipped due to brake problems. After the control stop, the car could not be restarted immediately.
While Toyota has been confirmed as team world champion, the title fight in the standings now led by Buemi, Nakajima and Hartley is still open before the finale in Bahrain.
Victory and table lead for Patric Niederhauser
In Sunday's race of the ADAC GT Masters at Hockenheim, the third event of 2020 that continues to be held without spectators, the Audi R8 duo of Patric Niederhauser and Kelvin van der Linde clinched its first victory of the season. They had already come close in second place on the previous day.
As the starting driver, the South African laid the foundation for the triumph with a strong first lap in which he fought his way from 6th on the grid to the front of the field. After that, Van der Linde and his partner Niederhauser, who was active in the second half of the race, controlled the one-hour race with aplomb and saw the checkered flag first with a lead of 4.3 seconds. As a result, last year's champions also took over the lead of the standings in the "League of Supercars".
Rolf Ineichen from Lucerne and Mirko Bortolotti finished third in another Audi R8 LMS. Simona de Silvestro with Klaus Bachler in a Porsche narrowly missed this position in fourth place the day before as in the third race at the Nürburgring.
The highlights show how Van der Linde/Niederhauser drove to their first victory of the season in Rutronik Racing's Audi R8 LMS.
