The brand's first sports model will be the 508 PSE; the plug-in hybrid, which combines an electric drive with a four-cylinder gasoline engine, will probably roll to the starting line with around 370 hp.
The 508 PSE makes a start in 2021
But even this sets it far apart from the other variants in the series, which produce between 130 hp and 225 hp.
The brand gave a first glimpse of the 508 PSE last year with a study presented as the Concept 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered Neo-Performance. The production variant will be ready for the market in early 2021. Prices and equipment have not yet been determined.
Tradition with sporty models
In addition, Peugeot will offer PSE derivatives based on the 208, 2008, 308 and 3008 equipped with either plug-in hybrid drives or pure electric drive. One model is to roll off the production line per year.
The 205 GTI is cult among fans of the brand
With the PSE models, Peugeot is continuing a tradition of sporty models. The 404 was already regarded as an unusually fast sedan in the 1960s.
From 1969, the 504 Coupé and Cabriolet served as the brand's sporty spearhead. The 205 GTI, launched in 1984, achieved cult status.
