Porsche: Record with Panamera Turbo

Porsche demonstrated the performance power of the new Panamera ahead of its world premiere.

In the official ranking of Nürburgring GmbH, this time, certified by a notary public, is listed as a new record in the upper class category.

Electromechanical roll stabilization

Lars Kern: "The optimizations to the Panamera's chassis and powertrain were always noticeable on this lap of the world's most demanding race track. Particularly in the Hatzenbach or also in the Bergwerk and Kesselchen areas, the electromechanical roll stabilization, which helps the Panamera achieve incredible stability despite the bumps there, has a lasting effect."

At 22 degrees Celsius outside and 34 degrees Celsius asphalt temperature Lars Kern tackled the lap and crossed the finish line 7:29.81 minutes later.

Race seat and safety cage additional
The record-breaking Panamera was equipped with a racing seat and a safety cage to protect the driver. In addition, the notary confirmed the production condition of the still camouflaged four-door, which will celebrate its world premiere at the end of August.

Record drive according to the new statutes
Lars Kern had already conquered the Eifel circuit in 2016 in a 550-hp Panamera Turbo in 7:38.46 minutes - over the 20.6 kilometers that were usual for record-breaking runs at the time, i.e. excluding the approximately 200-meter section at grandstand number 13.

In accordance with the new statutes of Nürburgring GmbH, this time the race was measured over the complete Nordschleife distance of 20.832 kilometers. By comparison, Lars Kern and the new Panamera had already completed the 20.6 kilometers in 7:25.04 minutes. The record-breaking team was thus around 13 seconds faster than four years ago.
