The Swiss Legends Cars (SLR) club does hold a Cup officially approved by Auto Sport Schweiz. However, this must be limited to the slalom dates in Switzerland submitted by SLR - unfortunately, there are no more in 2020...
Off to France
Fortunately, the initiates cook up their own soup in between so that they don't starve in terms of racing. The club's internal championship also includes sprint tests on French circuits, where the drivers of these nippy little cars can really let off steam with their three-cylinder Yamaha engines.
The event kicked off on July 17 and 18 with two Time Attack runs at the Circuit de Bresse. The first on Friday as part of the warm-up organized by SĂ€gesser Motorsport, the second on Saturday at the Kurt Buess Memorial.
For this purpose, a simulated race with back-to-back starts was held as a test. All cars with different silhouettes of legendary U.S. cars above the tubular frame chassis will roll on Toyo semislicks from 2020.
The same elite podium twice
In a given time window, the aim was to determine the fastest lap time of each participant. The reigning champion Frédéric Cotting was the fastest on both days.
Thomas KrÀuchi and Urs Böhlen also clocked 1'37 times and had a tough duel for second place.
Both times, last year's newcomer KrÀuchi kept the upper hand ahead of his team boss Böhlen, a small fast man of the first hour. Alain Chatton, together with Peter and Hanspeter SÀgesser the mastermind behind this booming series, had to settle for 4th place both times with a respectable margin.
In the Pro category for juniors aged 18 and over, Tobias Nadig was ahead in both runs. Silas Heller and Daniel Kauter took second place once each.
Only on Friday there were two competitors each in the classes Ladies and Master (50 years and older). The cups for 1st place were won by Lili Jenal and Peter SĂ€gesser.
Swiss race in LigniĂšres
Seven more scoring races are scheduled in the current second half of the year. The only two in Switzerland will take place, as exclusively reported last week at AutoSprintCH online, on September 12/13 as part of a new Clubsport event organized by the TCS and the SLR club on the circuit of LigniĂšres at the foot of the Chasseral.
