The highlights of the second qualifying session. Co-commentator was Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler.

In the second of three online events for the Swiss Simracing Series 2020, redemption was called for. After Fabio Lomartire, Sylvain Villet, Pascal Jutz, Jürg Aeberhard and Gian Teufen had either dropped out of the last virtual race at Brands Hatch or narrowly missed qualifying for the final on December 6, they took the second chance on the virtual short circuit of the Nürburgring under their wheels.

Under the watchful eye of the association
But the competition wasn't asleep either and gave the five "repeat offenders" a run for their money. To ensure that everything went according to plan, the virtual race was supervised by Auto Sport Schweiz and judged live on Game TV afterwards. Race director Alexander Maag made the decisions in unison with professional Marcel Fässler.

21 virtual Porsche GT3 Cup cars start the race. On the left in front, the eventual winner heads for the first corner.

Decisive fractions of a second
On the 3.1-kilometer sprint track there are several sections where you can make up a lot of time, but also lose some. In any case, the 15-minute qualifying session was a real nail-biter. The racing was correspondingly hard.

It got really tight towards the end of the session. The first ten drivers were within one second of each other. With a time of 1'26.638, Fabio Lomartire put his virtual Porsche GT3 Cup on pole. Fabian Puorger had to admit defeat by only one thousandth. Pascal Jutz, Sylvain Villet and Lukas Eugster took 4th to 5th place on the grid.

Yann Zimmer, who in reality drives in the Alpine A110 Eurocup, took part in the RacingFuel Academy simulator - and managed to qualify.

Turbulent start phase
Fabio Lomartire left no stone unturned in the 20-minute race. From the start, he pulled away from the rest of the field. Jutz, Puorger and Villet, on the other hand, clashed as early as turn 2, the entrance to the Mercedes Arena. While Jutz and Puorger spun and rejoined the race in 18th and 16th place, Villet saved himself and continued in P2.

After that, nothing much happened for a long time. The positions were taken, and everyone tried to put pressure on the car in front of them. Only in the final phase of the race were there any shifts.

Showdown for third place
Yann Zimmer, who started the race from P5, was closing the gap on Lukas Eugster, who had been in third place until then. In the last lap it came to the showdown.

Eugster - who in his real racing life drives a Ligier-Honda sports car in slaloms - overlooked a car waiting to lap, touched it lightly in the Mercedes Arena and had to turn off into the grass. Zimmer was immediately on the spot and took over P3.

Thus, Lormatire won ahead of Villet and Zimmer. They are also the three finalists of the Standard category.

Category winner
With ranks 6, 14 and 17 Fabian Eggenberger (a slalom specialist from the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup), Marc Haettenschweiler and Hanspeter Winter secured their places in the Ü40 classification.

Franziska Martig, who competed in the RacingFuel Academy in Horgen, will be the only representative of the ladies at the final in the Porsche Center Schlieren.
