ADAC Formula 4: Particularly attractive for Swiss teams
Formula 4 is becoming increasingly popular. In addition to the seven Swiss drivers, there were also two Swiss teams in ADAC Formula 4 in 2015: Jenzer Motorsport and Race Performance. Jenzer Motorsport has been competing in junior categories in Formula racing throughout Europe since 1993. "Formula 4 is the current junior entry category and consequently a MUST. Formula 4 offers young drivers the best platform and many testing and racing opportunities, as German Formula 4 and Italian Formula 4, for example, operate with virtually the same regulations. This is very attractive," says the team, explaining its commitment.
The great interest is confirmed by the registration of 50 participants since the start of enrollment for the 2016 season. "Our expectations have been clearly exceeded by the high demand," admitted ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk. "We are very confident that we will again be able to offer the optimum platform for entry into professional motorsport in 2016," added Lars Soutschka, ADAC Head of Motorsport.
Race Performance gave four young Swiss talents - Giorgio Maggi, Lucas Mauron, Marylin Niederhauser and Alain Valente - a chance in 2015. Nevertheless, the team is yet to decide whether to participate this year.
"In 2016, Race Performance will focus predominantly on entries in the ELMS and ALMS, with LMP2 and LMP3 as well as the 24h Le Mans. No decision has yet been made about another year in Formula 4," announced Wolfgang Koepp, press spokesman for Race Performance. There should be further information in mid-February.
