Now comes an in-depth update of the bestseller. All key technologies are taking a leap forward. Volkswagen is now electrifying the Tiguan with a plug-in hybrid drive with 245 hp system output.
Stand-alone R model with 320 hp
For the first time, the SUV is also launching as a stand-alone Tiguan R with a 320-hp TSI; the experts at Volkswagen R have developed a new all-wheel drive system with torque splitter for the extremely dynamic top model.

Cleanest diesel with twindosing
Via Twindosing, Volkswagen now ranks the new Tiguan's turbodiesel engines (TDI) among the world's cleanest combustion engines. With the new "Travel Assist" in the Tiguan, the SUV can now be driven with assistance at speeds of up to 210 km/h. The Tiguan offers a comprehensive range of online-based services and functions via the infotainment systems of the current generation.
Also new: a 480-watt sound system from Harman Kardon. Volkswagen has also digitized the operation of the climate control functions with touch sliders and touch surfaces, and the wide-beam matrix headlights guide the driver comfortably and safely through the night.
Radiator grille with LED headlights
Visually, the update of the Tiguan can be recognized, among other things, by the redesigned front end. The hood is higher and the radiator grille and LED headlights are wider.
The new VW emblem is integrated in the center. The bumpers and the 4Motion lettering at the rear of the all-wheel-drive variants have also been redesigned.
Range up to 504 kilometers
One of the highlights will be the Tiguan eHybrid with a plug-in hybrid drive. The Tiguan can drive around 504 kilometers on one battery charge. The Tiguan eHybrid can be driven up to 130 km/h in pure electric mode.

Touch fields instead of buttons and controllers
In the interior, Volkswagen has integrated a completely new touch module for the climate functions. In addition to touch surfaces, large, illuminated touch sliders are used here for fan and temperature control.
Prices, equipment and the Swiss market launch have not yet been determined.
