Hoch-Ybrig: accelerate to your heart's content 🎥
The Hoch-Ybrig slalom was the first motor sport event to be held in Switzerland this year and was of particular importance. However, only the Suzuki drivers took part in the races. At the beginning of the year, the club members of the Squadra Türmli had not even remotely thought that their traditional event - with the exception of ice slaloms - would be the season opener in Swiss motor racing. However, on Sunday they left it at training runs with timing without classifications.
All those present enjoyed this in the best external conditions, whereby the distance rules and hygiene measures had to be followed. This did not dampen the mood.
Own race for the Suzuki riders
Around 130 drivers from the LOC sport and the national scene took advantage of this starting opportunity, with karts and autocrossers also allowed to let off steam.
The actual start of the racing season was provided on Saturday by around 30 participants from the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup. As a kind of closed society, they were able to compete in three races on the area at the Weglosen valley station of the Hoch-Ybrig gondola lift, each consisting of one training and three classification runs.
Muzzarelli already shows the master again
The ranking resulted from the two best running times in each case. In all three races with run times around 57 seconds, the reigning champion Marcel Muzzarelli prevailed. Sandro Fehr took second place twice and Patrick Flammer once.
Marcel Muzzarelli: "Unfortunately, with Simeon Schneider and Fabian Eggenberger, my two toughest opponents from last year were not there. Otherwise it would have been even more exciting. I obviously haven't forgotten how to do it during the long break, but this short track is probably not very meaningful. But it was cool to race again. So you have to give credit to Squadra Türmli for organizing such an exclusive day for us."

How it went at the race of the Suzuki Swift Sport on Saturday, shows the video of a ride by Sandro Fehr.
Due to a lack of events, there will be no Cup ranking this year. At the Slalom Anneau du Rhin organized by the ACS Zurich on August 28 in Alsace and at the Slalom Drognens - provided that the Fribourgers stick to the staging on the last weekend of September - the Suzuki class will also be at the start.
