Porsche Supercup: Eight races in Europe 🎥

IN THE FRAMEWORK OF FORMULA 1 With the start of the 2020 GP season, the Porsche Supercup will also get underway in two weeks. The strict measures demand a lot of understanding from team bosses, such as Alex Fach from Schwyz. The teaser, which was already produced in late 2019 with a view to the coming season, still assumed races in Monaco and Mexico.

The enforced racing break will soon be over for Europe's toughest one-make cup. On July 5, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will kick off its belated season at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.

Eight events in Europe
The registered teams and their drivers with the 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup complete eight races within less than ten weeks. As usual, all the rounds take place as part of the Formula 1 World Championship.

After a second race in Spielberg a week later, the schedule includes Budapest, Silverstone with two consecutive races, Barcelona and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), and the finale at Monza on the first weekend in September. Because worldwide restrictions will not allow any major trips for a long time to come, there will therefore be no Supercup finale in North America for the first time in years.

Unchanged value
Each of the eight events comprises a 30-minute sprint race. In preparation for the most intensive season in the history of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the participants will meet for official test drives on June 23 and 24 at the Red Bull Ring. Porsche will again be fielding a VIP vehicle at selected races.

Oliver Schwab, Project Manager Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup: "I am looking forward to a shortened but certainly highly exciting season, which will comprise eight races as originally planned. Despite the difficult situation, the field of participants is just as strong as in previous years. The sporting value of the Supercup remains as high as ever."

Strict safety measures
However, the return to the race track comes with concessions for all involved. For example, the number of team members is strictly limited. Therefore, no sponsors and guests may be invited.

Some teams, however, live not least from solvent people who act as sponsors in the Supercup and enjoy being in the Formula 1 environment with their companions.

The Supercup teams and their drivers will feel pretty lonely in Austria and the races thereafter. But there's no other way at the moment.

Conditional joy with Alex Fach
For this reason, the boss of the Swiss team Fach Auto Tech, which is heavily involved with three cars, is only moderately enthusiastic.

Alex Fach: "I don't take such pleasure in the crowded calendar and all the measures that have to be taken. Without an audience and sponsors, on which we live as a team, this situation is very difficult. And eight races in two months will be quite stressful. But we have to take what's available."
