Following the publication of the revised race calendar, Dominique Aegerter is eagerly awaiting the season opener in the MotoE World Cup. The 29-year-old motorcycle racing professional from the canton of Bern will celebrate his premiere in the racing series with electric racing machines on July 19 in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.
Seven races in Spain and Italy
Three events are run as part of the MotoGP. The venues are Misano and Le Mans in addition to the second race in Jerez just one week later.
Dominique Aegerter: "It took forever for our season opener to finally be confirmed. During the unwanted break, I did a lot of sport and trained well. I feel physically in top condition. After the loosening up, it was also possible to start riding training again. I was on the road a lot with my supermoto and motocross bike. That was very important in order not to lose the feeling completely. Nevertheless, kilometers on the circuit are missing."
Experienced crew is important
Aegerter can hardly wait for his next outing on the MotoE bike. So far, he only rode it for three days in Jerez shortly before the lockdown.
Dominique Aegerter: "I still need more experience before we get into the first race weekend. But I can trust my crew, who already have a year's experience with this technology. So I'm very positive that we'll do a good job right from the start."

His goal is already clear - he wants to be at the front of the pack, although as a rookie in this category he still has a lot to get used to.
Dominique Aegerter: "The qualifying mode with only one e-pole lap and the short race distance will be the main challenges."
Hope for further easing
Aegerter also hopes to soon be able to tackle his job as a test rider for the Honda superbike project in full. At the moment, however, there are still question marks over a planned date next month due to strict travel regulations.
Dominique Aegerter: "I hope that the travel restrictions will be further relaxed soon. A superbike test is planned for the beginning of July. I definitely don't want to miss this opportunity. Because I need every kilometer on a road racing machine so that the relevant muscle parts are already warmed up again before the next MotoE test."
