Suzuki Racing Cup: Goodbye in 2021

LOOKING AHEAD Due to a lack of events in the current year, the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup will not be held again until 2021, but then in two classifications - with and without hybrid. Those who still drive somewhere in 2020 will receive an entry fee subsidy. The Suzuki Swiss Sport will not gather again for Cup races until 2021. But anyone who still rides somewhere in 2020 will not go away empty-handed.

For a long time, Suzuki Automobile Switzerland, as the organizer of the one-make cup in Switzerland with the largest number of participants, had hoped that at least three official races could still be held according to the planned calendar. Thus, a year-end ranking would still have been justifiable.

Only two slaloms left
After the cancellation of the Ambri slalom, only the ACS-Zurich event on the Anneau du Rhin in Alsace (August 28) and Drognens on September 26 remained as the last SM race not yet cancelled.

With a heavy heart, the importer from Safenwil therefore decided to cancel the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup for 2020 and consequently also the final event at Auto Zürich.

Financial treat
In order to support the riders who still want to get a taste of racing air, a contribution of 150 per race and participant will be paid. Apart from Anneau du Rhin and Drognens (the Fribourg team is still weighing up), only the ICSM slaloms of Hoch-Ybrig on June 21 (to be held) and Wangen on October 25 will be considered.

From 2021 in two classifications
Since this spring, the Suzuki Swift Sport has been available as a 48V hybrid version. This model is to be entered in the Racing Cup next year in any case, provided Auto Sport Schweiz approves it.

Since no championship can take place this year, the current models without hybrid will certainly be allowed again. If ASS agrees, there will be two different classifications.

Also no ICSM 2020
The Intercantonal Slalom Championship will also be cancelled for 2020, as three races would be too few for this.

However, the ICSM organization is expecting an increase in participants from the national side for Hoch-Ybrig, Anneau du Rhin and especially for the popular season finale at the Wangen SZ airfield. The prerequisite, however, are racing vehicles with road approval.

The people of Schwyz want to hold their Hoch-Ybrig slalom on June 21. The decision will be made by June 5. Then also some Suzukis will be at the start.
