Once a vehicle has been placed on the market, it is subject to a statutory inspection obligation, the motor vehicle inspection (MFK). The first inspection takes place around five years after the vehicle is first put on the market, the second inspection three years later and then every two years.
An MFK is not only important for one's own car, but also plays a role in the trust placed in the supplier when buying a used car: sales advertisements often contain the note that an inspection was recently carried out on the vehicle.
Minimum legal requirements

Information in the service booklet
From MFK is a minimum guarantee, but not a guarantee. Because the inspection does not examine, for example, the quality of engine oil, brake fluid or the condition of the air filter. The MFK also provides little information about other work that is part of a service and ensures smooth operation of the car, such as the timely replacement of the timing belt.
Very important: It is always worth taking a look at the service booklet. If there are any doubts, you should look for another car.
