Walther Wuttke: "Could it be any more cynical?"

SCARY Many contemporaries are using the Corona pandemic as an opportunity to advance their ideas of a new mobility. Even before the virus has been defeated, war is being declared on internal combustion vehicles. According to an English study, the reduced volume of traffic in Europe has led to 11,000 lives being saved. At the same time, it underplays the fact that more than 140,000 [...]

Mobility
To avoid infection, commuters switched from buses and trains to their cars.

According to an English study, reduced traffic in Europe has led to 11,000 lives being saved. At the same time, it omits the fact that more than 140,000 Europeans have now died as a result of Corona. Could it be any more cynical?

Electric car vs. combustion engine
Corona is used by these propagandists to call for the dawn of a supposedly clean mobility. This means good electric cars versus evil internal combustion engines. The not inconsiderable CO2 footprint of e-mobiles is overlooked. After all, the electricity comes from the socket. And the fact that customers tend to be reluctant to buy e-mobiles despite the premiums apparently doesn't matter.

Effective infection inhibitor
The fact that the car proved to be an effective infection inhibitor during the crisis also falls by the wayside. To avoid infection, many commuters switched from buses and trains to their cars and escaped the virus there. Where is the study that classifies this protective measure?

No spice for political soup
The fact that modern gasoline and diesel engines are cleaner than ever before also does not fit into the world view of the green propagandists.

After the pandemic, people want to be mobile again - and they want to do so without having to do without and, above all, without compulsory regulations from self-appointed world saviors. Corona is not a spice for cooking political soup.
