Buses: Juicy new tariffs in Germany
For all those who like to drive to the northern neighboring country to really step on the gas, it could soon become more expensive. From April 28, Germany will be subject to significantly higher fines. Currently, trips abroad are not (yet) allowed due to the closed borders. Currently, driving abroad is not (yet) allowed due to the closed borders. When it is possible again, you should pay attention to the new tariffs for speeding.
These provide for both a doubling of fines for minor violations and stricter guidelines regarding driving bans in cases of hardship. This may even result in the revocation of the driver's license.
Buses outside localities
According to research by moto.ch, the fines for violations outside built-up areas up to 20 km/h have doubled. Anyone speeding up to 10 km/h will now pay 20 euros instead of 10. Who is on the road between 11 and 15 km/h too fast, must now pay 40 euros (previously 20). For violations between 16 and 20 km/h, the fine is now 60 euros instead of 30.
Additional withdrawal in Switzerland
Fines for major violations remain unaffected for the time being. However, there is now a driving ban earlier.
Whereas previously only those caught twice in the same year driving between 26 and 30 km/h too fast had to surrender their driver's license, this is now already due with the first transgression. A violation of between 26 and 30 km/h will now result in a driving ban of one month plus an 80-euro fine.
Swiss drivers do not get off scot-free. If a driving ban is imposed in Germany, the Swiss authorities can confiscate the driver's license for the corresponding period. The previously applicable penalties outside built-up areas remain the same.
Suspension of driving license from 21 km/h in the city
Anyone driving too fast within built-up areas will also have to reckon with hefty fines. Here, too, the fines are doubled in the lower levels.
Up to 10 km/h too fast, it is now 30, up to 15 km/h 50 and up to 20 km/h 70 euros. Another new feature is that a driver's license will be revoked for one month if the speed limit exceeds 21 km/h in built-up areas. Until now, this was only the case from 31 km/h too much.
Not forming an emergency lane will be expensive
Anyone who has been on a German autobahn in recent years may have noticed that our neighbors to the north form exemplary emergency lanes. On the one hand, this is due to the information posters along the highway, but on the other hand, the fine of 200 euros for the obstreperous will also have contributed to this. In addition, a one-month driving ban will be added.
The penalties for drivers who either simply drive through the emergency lane or attach themselves to an emergency vehicle will also be increased: Anyone who is guilty of this will now pay 240 euros and also surrender their driver's license for one month.
