The all-terrain variant of the E-Class has a more massive appearance thanks to the modified body.

The sedan and estate are to become more dynamic, but the Avantgarde version with its sportier exterior design is now standard. The trunk lid has been given a new shape, which is why the production tools for these body parts had to be changed.

E-Class
The steering wheel of the new E-Class is now equipped with more user-friendly buttons.

Easy to use steering wheel
Inside, the cockpit has undergone a digital refresh. The two 10.25-inch screens convey the information from the MBUX communication system, and their diagonal size can be increased to 12.3 inches on request.

The steering wheel is equipped with more user-friendly buttons. On top of that, the revised E-Class has become smarter.

In the future, the parking assistant will receive its information about the surroundings not only from ultrasonic sensors, but also from cameras.

Energizing function for fatigue
Other assistants are also becoming more intelligent. Using map data from the navigation system and traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control adheres to traffic rules - unless the driver explicitly disregards them.

Another new feature is the energizing function of the electrically adjustable front seats. On longer journeys, it changes their setting in small steps, which leads to a change in body posture. This in turn prevents premature fatigue. An energizing coach allows the driver to take a short break to improve his concentration.

Electric range 50 kilometers
This function is standard in the models with plug-in hybrid drive. Possible battery charging phases are to be used for this purpose.

Mercedes will offer a total of seven versions with this drive system in the future. The choices are the sedan, the station wagon, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, gasoline or diesel.

Regardless of the respective version, the purely electric range is expected to be around 50 kilometers. However, the battery-related step in the trunk will remain with the plug-in models of the tenth E-Class generation until the next model change.

Engine range from 156 to 367 hp
The engine range remains largely unchanged. However, a new gasoline engine with the type designation M 254 has been added. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine works with a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter-generator. It produces 272 hp, with the generator contributing 15 kW (20 hp).

The turbocharger is supported by an additional electric compressor for more spontaneous response and reduced emissions. The engine range offers outputs from 156 hp to 367 hp for the gasoline engines and 160 hp to 330 hp for the compression-ignition engines.
