CHANGE From March 2 of this year, anyone who catches a parking fine in the city of Zurich will no longer find a payment slip under the windshield wiper, but only a QR code. The background to this. Parking fine
The Zurich city police will soon only issue violation notices with a QR code.

Previously, fined persons in Zurich received a violation notice with a payment slip to pay the fine and a note indicating the type of violation. Now the Zurich city police will only issue or hand out violation notices with QR codes, but without payment slips and a corresponding note.

Online, but also by post
Those fined can scan the QR code with their smartphone camera to go directly to the Zurich City Police's online bus counter. Alternatively, contact can also be made online.

Persons who do not wish to or are unable to use the online fine counter will, as before, receive a notice of violation with a payment slip and the corresponding instructions by post 30 days after the administrative fine has been issued.

Parking fine
As of March 2, 2020, traffic fines in the city of Zurich will only be available as QR codes.

Credit card, Postfinance, Twint
The fine can be paid on the online portal by credit card, Postfinance or Twint. Those fined can also lodge an objection.

However, it is possible to report who was driving the vehicle in question or to order a payment slip with a reference number. The information on the portal is available in four languages.

Facilitating communication
With the introduction of the new offense reports, the Zurich city police hope to simplify communication with citizens and reduce the administrative burden. It is still possible to pay a fine in cash on the spot or at a Zurich City Police station in return for a receipt.

New Swiss law on administrative fines
The adjustment in Zurich takes place against the background that the new Administrative Fines Act and the new Administrative Fines Ordinance came into force throughout Switzerland on January 1, 2020.

In addition to simple violations, minor violations of other laws are now also sanctioned in the administrative fine procedure. This applies, for example, to violations of the Inland Navigation Act, the Weapons Act, the Narcotics Act, the Environmental Protection Act, the Forest Act and the Hunting and Fishing Act.
