Swiss family businesses are eligible for the award if they are characterized by sustainable entrepreneurial spirit and employ more than 25 people. In addition, the chairmanship of the board of directors or the operational management must be held by a family member and the majority of the capital must be owned by the family.
Memory of the founder of the company
Since 2012, Amag has endowed the Family Business Award in memory of the company's founder Walter Haefner to honor particularly entrepreneurial and sustainable family businesses. The award is intended to promote the mindset and values as well as the commitment of family businesses and to underline their importance for the Swiss economy. Family businesses make a decisive contribution to Switzerland's high level of prosperity. Around 90 percent of all companies in Switzerland are family businesses. They create jobs, generate added value and ensure stability in the Swiss economy.
Decision by expert jury
The winning company will be selected by a ten-member jury consisting of highly experienced personalities with proven expertise. The jury is chaired by Dr. Karin Lenzlinger, President of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce.
Interested companies can apply for the award from today until April 30, 2020.
