The Benjamin Mazda2 has been relaunched in time for the brand's anniversary.

Like many of today's car companies, Mazda started out doing other things. But the initial cork producer from Hiroshima became a tool manufacturer, launching its first motorcycle-based delivery vehicle, the Mazda Go, in 1931.

Spring damper and wheel suspension
The anniversary year opens with the powerfully redesigned Mazda2. Changes to the front, rear and interior underscore the current design language. Newly tuned spring dampers and wheel suspension provide noticeably better suspension comfort.

The dynamic handling control system (G-Vectoring Control Plus) also supports the steering response with targeted braking interventions, resulting in more agile cornering. The Mazda2 thus appears decidedly nimble without sacrificing comfort.

The revised engine cracks the 95-gram CO2 limit thanks to mild hybrid.

Consumption and energy
Thanks to the mild hybrid system and additional modifications, consumption with the familiar 1.5-liter gasoline engine is reduced from 4.9 to 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers. As a result, CO2 emissions fall to 94 g/kmt (NEDC). However, the values according to the new WLTP are 5.3 liters and 120 grams respectively. The mild hybrid is a starter-generator with 22.5 volts voltage and capacitors as energy storage.

Pleasant comfort and equipment
In Switzerland, the engine is available with 90 hp and optionally with a 6-speed automatic (+2000 francs). Both the 6-speed manual and the automatic harmonize well with the Japanese. Together with the more agile chassis, this makes for an attractive overall package.

New front seats, improved noise insulation and full LED lights as standard also improve comfort and equipment. Depending on the equipment, there's also an active lane departure warning system, traffic sign recognition, matrix LED or and smartphone integration.

Prices start at 19,800 francs for the Mazda2 Ambition variant.
