Recaro: Car seats now from the USA

MORE FLEXIBILITY Adient, one of the world's leading car seat companies, has sold its Recaro Automotive Seating division to an American company.

Recaro's portfolio includes state-of-the-art sports seats for sporty drivers and racing applications, and the new owner, Raven Acquisition LLC, is a privately owned investment company from Detroit. The transaction was completed on January 1, 2020.

Recaro Automotive Seating develops, produces and distributes premium vehicle seats for the original equipment and aftermarket. The company has around 425 employees at three locations in Europe, the USA and Japan and generated sales of around 150 million US dollars in the 2019 financial year.

The Stuttgart-based company remains a licensor
In the new corporate structure, Recaro Automotive Seating will be better able to concentrate on its core business - performance seats, ergonomic seats and special applications. Shorter and faster decision-making processes will give the company more flexibility to better meet market requirements.

The license agreement and thus the right to use the Recaro brand under license for the development, production and sale of premium car seats is transferred to the new owner. The licensor is Recaro Holding GmbH in Stuttgart, the parent company of Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro eGaming.

The history of the sports seat manufacturer goes back to 1906, when the Stuttgart bodywork and wheel factory was founded. In 1963, REutter CARosserie became the RECARO brand.
