Three strong partners
It was foreseeable and is now official: The Young Driver Challenge will no longer be held in 2020. The project was launched in 2017 by AutoScout24, Seat and Fredy Barth. Cupra, as a subsidiary of Seat, took over the part as manufacturer in this young driver development program from 2019.
Multi-part elimination process
In a four-part competition series, young people between the ages of 16 and 21 were able to prove themselves as racing drivers. Those who convinced the jury throughout all the phases and who, in addition to their driving skills, also had an unconditional passion and willingness for racing, won the main prize of financial and advisory support for a further racing commitment.
Extended partnerships
However, the last point does not change for the 2018 and 2019 award winners. AutoScout24 will continue to support Julien Apothéloz and Karen Gaillard. Both were under contract with the previous TCR Germany entry team Topcar Sport from Uetendorf and want to remain loyal to the Cupra brand.
The soon-to-be 19-year-old from Zurich is expected to compete again in the ADAC TCR Germany, while the 18-year-old from Freiburg will compete in the European endurance races of the 24H Series.
