Chevrolet: Tahoe and Suburban as diesel

DICKSHIPS While politicians and the automotive industry are rushing to realize the vision of an electric future, the trend is already reversing in global lead markets such as the USA and China. The latest example is Chevrolet. The sister models Tahoe and Suburban, which have now been unveiled, are coming onto the market not only with large-volume eight-cylinder gasoline engines, but also - after a decade-long hiatus - with a diesel unit. The 5.73-meter-long and very spacious Chevrolet Suburban will be delivered in the summer.

The sister models now presented, the Tahoe and Suburban, not only come with large-volume eight-cylinder gasoline engines, but also - after a decade-long hiatus - with a diesel unit.

Competitors for Mercedes & Co.
The 5.35-meter Tahoe and the 5.73-meter Suburban will be delivered in the summer, but they are already being shown. Based on the brand's pickup models, these models sort themselves out above the competition like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7.

Thanks to the box frame and optional all-wheel drive with reduction gearbox, the Tahoe and Suburban are ideal for towing and medium-heavy terrain.

Chevrolet
Engines with a choice of 277 (diesel), 355 or 420 hp are available for the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Air suspension against surcharge
A new multi-link independent suspension provides improved comfort. For an additional charge, air suspension will also be available, which can increase ground clearance by up to five centimeters. The wheel sizes are 18, 20 or 22 inches.

The luggage compartment is huge: Behind the third row of seats, the Tahoe can hold an impressive 722 liters of luggage, and the Suburban even 1164 liters. If only the first row of seats is used, the cars can hold an impressive 3479 or 4097 liters.

Hydramatic controls power transmission
Propulsion is provided by a 355-hp 5.3-liter V8, a 420-hp 6.2-liter V8 or the aforementioned 277-hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel, which bears the Duramax designation. Power transmission in all models is handled by a ten-speed Hydramatic, which is controlled via pushbuttons.

Increased slope angle
While the predecessor models were offered in three trim levels, there will be six in the future - including the Z71 version, which is optimized for off-road driving and has an increased slope angle, and the High Country luxury variant, which features thickly applied chrome trim and embroidery work on the seats.

It is still unclear whether the Tahoe and Suburban will come to Europe; however, the market launch of a planned luxury derivative is fairly certain: Cadillac will shortly be presenting the new Escalade on the same basis.
