The Space Star and the L200 set new records. Despite the discontinuation of the Pajero, the brand with the three diamonds maintained its market share at the previous year's level.
Numerous positive highlights
Bernd Hoch, Managing Director of MM Automobile Schweiz AG: "The year 2019 held numerous positive highlights for our brand, but also challenged us. The sales successes of the Space Star and the L200 are worth mentioning. The discontinuation of the global image-bearer Pajero, on the other hand, presented us with the challenge of compensating for the lack of sales in order to maintain enrollment figures at a good level."
Sales figures by model
After doubling its sales figures in 2018, the technology flagship Outlander PHEV maintained its leading position in the segment and grew again in 2019 with an increase of 15 percent. Comparable growth was also achieved in 2019 for the volume model Space Star. The bestseller recorded an increase of 18 percent.
The ASX compact SUV enjoyed a successful model year change. The visually redesigned model not only scored points with its typical Dynamic Shield front-end design, but also generated rising demand thanks to the return of all-wheel drive.
The Eclipse Cross launched in 2018 achieved its planned target with just under 1,000 vehicles sold, making it the brand's most important volume model alongside the Space Star. In addition to the encouraging growth figures in the passenger car segment, the brand also made strong gains in sales of the L200. With growth of 45 percent, the pick-up achieved its best result since sales began 27 years ago.
Future with plug-in hybrid technology
The new Space Star will celebrate its market launch in Switzerland in the spring. Among other things, the bestseller will be upgraded with an even sportier design.
In addition, the city runabout is now classified in energy efficiency category A and is offered at attractive leasing conditions starting at 59 Swiss francs per month. The fourth quarter will be dominated by plug-in hybrid technology.
Swiss customers of the brand can look forward to the new Outlander PHEV on the one hand, and the Eclipse Cross PHEV will be added to the range on the other.
