Motorsport: Fabio Leimer starts in the Ferrari
Although only one race is planned for the time being, it will be followed with particular interest. Fabio Leimer will be making a guest appearance in the Ferrari Challenge at the end of July in Sotchi, Russia, with the octane 126 team from Wallisellen. Currently, the 2013 GP2 champion is having a lot of fun in karting, where he has quickly become a winning driver in the new OK Senior class. "I drive everything that has four wheels. I generally enjoy motorsport," says the Aargauer, explaining the change of scene. In the Meier karting team, he looks after and coaches customers and can therefore demonstrate how best to do it himself. Leimer is also still very interested in motor racing, but only wants to accept offers that at least cover his costs as a professional.
Now he has received such an offer. At the next weekend of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli on the Russian GP circuit of Sochi, Fabio Leimer will start with a Ferrari F458 of the successful team octane 126 from Wallisellen. Team leader Björn Grossmann from Germany leads the championship after a double victory in Mugello (I) and second place in the preliminary program of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which he already won last year. Fabio Leimer takes over the second car sponsored by the Swiss companies Sikura Life and Serliana.

Young team wants to prove its competence
Octane 126 is an official Ferrari & Maserati Service Partner that wants to draw attention to its expertise with the sport commitment. "We're still a young team, having only been around since 2013," says race engineer Jannick Bardy. "We want to show what we can do so that we can attract more customers." Fabio Leimer can now contribute to this, although he is deliberately keeping the ball low. Apart from test drives (DTM, for example), he has no experience with touring cars or GT vehicles, having always driven open-wheel race cars. The last time Fabio Leimer drove in the World Sports Car Championship was in Rebellion Racing's closed LMP1 sports car in 2014.
