Motorsport: Victories for Ralph Boschung and Stefano Comini

In addition to Formula E champion Sébastien Buemi, two other Swiss drivers distinguished themselves with victories last weekend: Ralph Boschung won a GP3 race for the first time, while Stefano Comini triumphed in the TCR Series. A new Swiss GP3 race winner: Ralph Boschung coped best with the almost irregular conditions on Sunday.

Neither one of the three drivers from Jenzer Motorsport, nor GP3 rookie Kevin Jörg ensured the first Swiss triumph in the 2016 GP3 series in Formula 1. Ralph Boschung swam away from everyone in the few free laps on Sunday morning in pouring rain. After the safety car had set the pace for a number of laps, the Frenchman seized his chance after the restart and quickly shot from fourth on the grid to the top.

The day before, Ralph Boschung had finished fourth in the dry behind three riders from the ART team. Oscar Tunjo held this position in front of him, but the Colombian had to have a loose rear-view mirror fixed in the Jenzer Team pit at the behest of the race organizers, thus giving away fourth place and a possible top result on Sunday. The other two Jenzer boys also came away empty-handed in Austria, as did Kevin Jörg, who was unable to build on his good start to the season in Spain.

It almost doesn't get any better than this: Stefan Comini started the first race in Sochi from pole position and left the chasers no chance.

Stefano Comini exploits VW's potential
At the last race of the TCR International Series in Europe, Stefano Comini captured his first pole position this year with the Leopard Racing VW Golf in Sochi, Russia. The defending champion skillfully turned the ideal starting position into a start-finish victory. Fifth place in the second race with a reversed starting order of the top 10 from qualifying earned him the points he needed to knock Pepe Oriola (Seat Leon) off the top of the standings by one point.

Stefano Comini: "It certainly helped that we were allowed to lower the vehicle height by 10 millimeters and the team did a great job with the set-up." The season continues in Thailand at the end of August, after which three double rounds are scheduled in Singapore, Malaysia and Macau. With a happy ending, as in 2015, for Stefano Comini? We won't know until November 20.
